Instead of very correct details I painted with a feel what I had when I looked at the reference photo and knowing the horse it made a difference. He clearly looks bothered at the moment but I couldn’t help myself put his kind soul in that eye. Sometimes that’s all it takes. She has the most beautiful, purple like coloring. I was thinking of doing my typical portrait style painting for her, than I saw this photograph and loved the movement in it. Surprisingly the picture I fall in love with, the reference for this painting, was the one I took after the ride.
